TV gets Joost, after telephones got skype’d and music got kazaa’d

Nice article about the guys who founded Kazaa, then developed and sold Skype for a fortune. Now they are using the file sharing control technology they tested over the last two incarnations and turning it to TV. They are working on a product called Joost that aims to have (non-user generated) content sent out to the desktop uberquick. Link to Wired for the full article:

Railguns Now a Reality

Missles at bullet price. Normally, new weaponry tends to make defense more expensive. But the Navy likes to say its new railgun delivers the punch of a missile at bullet prices.

A demonstration of the futuristic and comparatively inexpensive weapon yesterday at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren had Navy brass smiling.

The weapon, which was successfully tested in October at the King George County base, fires nonexplosive projectiles at incredible speeds, using electricity rather than gun powder. Full story:

PS3 hacked to accept Xbox 360 controller

If you’re running Fedora Core 5 on your PS3 and happen to have an Xbox 360 controller lying around — blasphemy, we know — then you may be interested to know that a new hack makes the PlayStation 3 capable of accepting instructions from its arch rival’s wired controller.
